TRUE GARDENERS Lola and her team are gems in the world of gardening. Lola loves what grows - she shares plants (I made sage honey from some she had just grown - I had never actually seen fresh sage before!) and she shares her knowledge freely. Her team care about your garden whatever stage it is at and whatever your needs are. She thinks about your budget and finds solutions - eg laying tarpulin while we were away to keep weeds in check rather than charging us each time to weed. She plans for the future of our garden, even though now it is in waiting. She takes the initiative and has a truly creative eye for shape and beauty, pruning our wisteria for where we might sit under it, even though we were away. And she and her team work incredibly hard and efficiently. I am very thankful to have found such a person to plan our garden with us into our retirement. Lola and her team started on one or two gardens in our row of townhouses and now care for many here because of word of mouth. We all love her.

What can I say? Lola is so brilliant, knowledgeable and creative...and much more. She's got an amazing energy. Always finding solutions, nothing is a problem. It's been an absolute joy to see my garden being transformed from a overgrown encroached space I hardly used...to a wonderful magical garden full of light and colour. All I wanted and what I talked with Lola about has been incorporated with solutions and ideas I never would have known of. Also..which was important to me...using elements from the garden that were already there have been employed in new and creative ways.

Lola at Black Dahlia Design completely transformed our garden. Our brief was to create a space we could use to relax and socialise with beautiful plants. Our garden was completely overgrown and had some things left over from our daughter's earlier childhood - an old trampoline and broken tree house. The plants had taken over and we never actually used the garden which was crazy given how lucky we are to have an outside space.

Lola started by surveying the space, identifying any existing plants we could keep and then created a new layout which would maximise the space. Then came the real magic. Lola knows so much about plants and designed a stunning planting scheme with many plants which you don't commonly see. There is a beautiful combination of colours and heights and lots of variety in a relatively small space.

Lola reimagined our garden and we now have an outside space where we can relax. I can't recommend Lola enough - she has been a joy to work with.

Working with Lola was a huge pleasure. She was enthusiastic, full of inspiring ideas, fun to be around and worked really hard to create a garden within my budget. She wasn't daunted when I showed her what we were starting with, which was a box-like concrete-filled yard with dilapidated, mismatched fences on all sides. Lola immediately saw what was needed to transform it into a more private, relaxing green space which suited the house and my lifestyle. She was really creative in introducing a mixture of materials to keep things interesting and choosing the right planting, while also finding ways keep costs down and still achieve what we wanted. She brought in a talented, conscientious team to help her who all worked incredibly hard to bring the design to life and I was thrilled with the result. I can't stop looking at the transformation and love noticing the changes as the plants settle in to their new home! I now have a garden that I love to be in and would definitely recommend Black Dahlia to anyone looking for a garden re-design.

During both the design and planting stages, Lola was extremely receptive to our wishes. With her horticultural knowledge and cheerfulness she made the whole process enjoyable and straightforward.

She also installed an irrigation system at the end of the process for peace of mind when we go on holiday.

We now have a lovely garden that we are very happy with.

Imaginative designs: Lola helped us transform our garden while bearing in mind our ambitions and limitations. She worked very hard and was generous, not only with ideas and suggestions, but also with loads of friendly, useful advice. Her wide knowledge of plants enabled our preferred colour scheme while allowing for conditions and ease of maintenance. One year on, her plans have matured into just what we wanted.

Lola and Tim are wonderful to deal with, very thorough, taking time to understand exactly what your vision is whilst working on-site you would hardly have known they were here. We are all enjoying our seating area and balcony with the secret ladder (specially the kids!).

The garden is looking wonderful and we can't wait to see it in full bloom next year.

We love the beautiful brick terrace which now sits so invitingly at the sun-trap end of the garden. And it’s been a pleasure having you working here, and seeing how all the little touches have come together to create something special.

We engaged Tim and Lola to create a new rear garden for our new home. They were very professional and enthusiastic throughout the process. They came up with some great designs following our initial consultation and then made those designs a reality within the budget we agreed and also within the tight timetable we had set them. They worked incredibly hard, through some of the hottest days of the year, and devoted real care, attention and passion to our project.

Tim is a real craftsman and Lola has a tremendous knowledge of plants and horticulture.

Access to our rear garden is all through the ground floor of our house, and we really appreciated the way Lola and Tim managed to transfer huge amounts of soil, garden waste, turf, plants, paving and woodwork through our living room and kitchen and out into the garden, without creating any mess for us to clear up. We would definitely work with them again without hesitation.

Lola and Tim worked closely with us to really understand our garden requirements and design a space which we could use and enjoy. We’re really impressed with their work. Their attention to detail, creativity, and vision has transformed the garden. By adding new seating, planting areas, and a huge selection of hand-picked plants our garden’s become a totally new space.

We’re now using so often it’s like having a new room in the house. Along the way they’ve inspired and taught us about the garden so we can enjoy looking after it as it grows and matures.
